For My point of views, I also personal three Sansa's (520, Clip & Fuze), three Ipods (Classic, Nano & Touch)! I even have three pairs of Ultimate Ears ($100 pair); three so I at all times have a collection in automotive, truck & for again up! The J3 monitor has 1-7 brightness environments-a tad brighter than the S9 with 1-6 (otherwise their identical), As for sound high quality, at full quantity the J3 distorts slightly extra frequently where the S9 rarely does: (But that is Due To The J3 Playing A Little Louder at comparable vol quantitys about 3% [0-40 vs Cowon S9 w/same eq settings]-might be just right when the use of as external tool on automobile stereo or powering large over head headphones)! Also, the J3 sounds only a tad harsher than the S9 - enjoying a little bit extra highs than lows - almost like being attentive to an eighty watt amp automotive stereo vs a a hundred watts (I'm Talking Very Subtle Difference For Those That Are Ultra Picky Audiophiles Seems Like You Need To Turn The Treble Down Half A Point)! The J3 Does have all the EQ surroundingss 5 bands/width of curve/and freq. with 4 consumer presets it saves!
It Does Play My AAC Itunes Files (Will Not Play APPLE LOSSLESS) - (Just Drag And Drop On The Music Folder Or Onto A Micro SD Card) it even performed tunes I purchased with Itunes! (The AAC and micro SD port are the one reasons I bought the J3; besides being a Cowon!
The GUI (user interface) is sweet, a drop down menu from above duvet art unearths the EQ presets including 4 user and the entire rest cowon is known for plus in the top right nook is a M for home display and top left again to list! I mostly hearken to music however watch some music movies and examine footage so no longer commenting a lot on the video element. I actually haven't viewed a clearer/brighter reveal IAMOLED (organic L.E.D. basically) however very nice!
My Only Complaints, Which Is Little, The Buttons! The Track Skip is excessive on the tool right where your thumb naturally relaxations and the Volume is towards the underneathside where it's awkward attending to (if you dangle it with left hand your ring/little finger can keep an eye fixed on extent and index/middle monitor skip)! If a person skips tracks more than they play with the amount I think it can be okay; on the opposite hand, track skip is also on the touchscreen however quantity isn't, go figure I guess. And the speaker is all however a joke, my $100 straighttalk phone's speaker sounds twice as loud/clear.

Sound coming out from my Grado SR60 or B&W P5 headset is solely butter. Silky clean and in contrast to another mp3 participant I examined. I also own the Sony Walkman X-series and Samsung P3, both robust competitors for best possible sound, but the J3 easily beat both of those mans.
